Internship Overview
Community Access Television
Siouxland Community Media offers a hands on internship program designed for students
studying for a career in mass-communication. Students participating in the internship
program will have the opportunity to work as production crew, feature producer/host or both.
Production Crew
Interns are expected to work in all areas of television production.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- STUDIO: Operate studio broadcast production equipment - studio cameras,
microphones, audio mixer and video switcher.
- FIELD/LOCATION: Operate field production equipment - portable lighting kits, XL-1
camera, & portable audio mixer.
- POST PRODUCTION/EDITING: Create and/or manipulate graphics using Photoshop
& LiveType. Edit programs using Final Cut Pro, export finished programs in formats
for television, DVD & internet video.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Previous experience helpful, but not required. We will train students who want to
learn.
- Ability to operate a MAC computer.
- Ability to lift production equipment - up to 75lbs. Ability to carry equipment up to 200
feet.
- Valid drivers license, vehicle and proof of insurance preferred.
Feature Producer / Host
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Research, interview and script video segments about local organizations and
activities as assigned.
- Work independently and as a member of the production crew to shoot and edit video
assignments.
- Be on camera for stand-ups, interviews and intro/outros. Provide voice-over
recordings to accompany video segments.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Previous writing/journalism skills experience helpful, but not required. We will train
students who want to learn.
- Ability to operate Windows & MAC computers.
- Ability to lift production equipment - up to 75lbs. Ability to carry equipment up to 200
feet.
- Valid drivers license, vehicle and proof of insurance preferred.
